Regular Jordan Rakei and Tom Misch collaborator is one of London's finest talents to emerge within the jazz inspired hip-hop or hip-hop inspired jazz spectrum of recent years, with enourmous testament given to his amazing album Antiphon, which has clocked well over a million listens on YouTube since it came out in March. If you haven't heard it, its something of a modern masterpiece, combining influences from the likes of Miles Davis, The Roots and of course modern hop-hop godfather J Dilla. and we cannot wait to hear what he and his band deliver to the Jazz Cafe!
Children of Zeus
Children of Zeus is the combined force of Konny Kon & Tyler Daley; Manchester's finest soulful hip-hop talent. They have broken waves courtesy of two absolutely stunning seven inches courtesy of the mighty First Word Records. 'Still Standing' & 'I Can't Wait' have become Rhythm Section classics since they have come out, being a cornerstone of both the warm-up and closing parts of our dances. This will go off.
So you may not have heard of Allysha Joy or her amazing band 30/70 but Rhythm Section Radio regulars certainly would have heard her stunning voice eminate over vibes a plenty. She has performed alongside acts such as Sampa the Great, Man Made Mountain, MKO and Simon Mavin, of Hiatus Kaiyote. Allysha is simply one of the most talented singers and songwriters to emerge out of Melbourne in recent years and is coming over to perform her soulful songs with simply a Fender Rhodes and a singing talent that will draw a tear from the dryest eye. With a beautiful seven single 'FNFL' (Northside Records) which has been critically acclaimed, this is an essential act who will only blossom in the years to come.
RS founder, Bradley Zero will be on the wheels of steel and our host for the night.
