After our inaugural dance at Corsica Studios, being undoubtedly one of the best parties we have ever done, we return to the LN-CC basement with none other than the immensely esteemed Volcov. Last time we ushered in none other than Detroit legend Kai Alce, and we had an amazing time, taking full advantage of the amazing sound system and the simply stunning intimate locale that is LN-CC.
For those who haven’t heard of Volcov, he is not just one of the deepest diggers around with an amazing ear for soulful music across all genres but an incredible selector and musical curator. Having been collecting records since the late 80s his experience is second to none, having played across the world with his encyclopaedic knowledge of all things soulful. With numerous standout compilations for the likes of BBE, Altered Soul Experiment and Especial under his belt we can’t wait to hear what he brings to LN-CC. Volcov also runs 2 incredible labels; Archive, which became a corner stone of the West London broken beat sound putting out releases by the likes of Domu, Dego, Marc Force, Kirk Degiorgio and even Theo Parrish. Neroli, Volcov’s newer label was responsible for the tune of last summer, Dego - Don’t Stop (Let It Go) in addition to stand out releases by RS favourites such as Trinidadian Deep and Alton Miller. With his own productions under the alias ISoul8, Volcov has released killer records on Rush House, Sonar Kollektiv, and Compost alongside his acclaimed disco and funk edits, giving us even more reason to be excited to welcome Italy’s finest to the next Rhythm Section dance.
*** THE VENUE *** (important - please read)
Once again, we’re crossing the river for a one-off special at LN-CC, Dalston.
This is a private, boutique, 200 capacity basement nightclub on Shacklewell lane that’s part of a bigger complex of art, music and fashion. Unlike any other shop in London (or maybe the world!) the venue has it’s own club. It’s a blacked out, acoustically treated space with a custom DJ booth, one red light and a disco ball. There’s a high end 4 point audiophile soundsystem. Over the years its played host to the likes of Joe Clausell, Rick Wilhite, Horse Meat Disco, Daniel Baldelli, Joy Orbisson, Funkineven, Toulouse Lowtrax and of course Kai Alce!
The venue is *BYOB*: but we’re approaching this akin to last time with Kai Alce. We’ll have a bar; fully stocked with garnishes (more than last time!), ice, cork screws, bottle openers. bitters, tonics, sodas - the whole 9 yards. When you arrive, you hand in your bottles to the bar - and after that our bar tender will operate a **free bar** all night. It doesn't work if you don't play by the rules, so we kindly ask everyone to chip in with beers, wines, spirits and otherwise and be creative. If you don’t drink alcohol, bring a nice soft drink.
In the unlikely event of us running out of booze - there’s an off license next door so you can always nip over and buy a tinny!
The price of a ticket is £15 - with it being BYOB we think this is amazing value and will work out to be cheaper than a regular night out - with one of the best DJs around in an amazing 200 capacity space we couldn’t think of a reason not to join us.
We Start at 9 and we finish at 3.
2 decks, a rotary mixer, 1 red neon light, a disco ball and a few crates of vinyl. Dub fx.
we recommend you buy ADVANCE TICKETS to guarantee a spot. £15 and BYOB
There’ll be limited ticket sales on the night, but we’ll be able to let a few early birds in for £20 OTD, and throughout the night if space allows. We highly recommend you pick up a ticket tho - demand for this will be high.
FYI no cloakroom!!
See you on the dance floor
As 2019 arrives, we're bringing things back to basics ( and north of the river) for a night showcasing some of the UK's most exciting prospects alongside bossman Bradley Zero at the Wonderful Five Miles, which has recently undergone a full sound system refurb( not that it really needed it!) so the frequencies should be sweeter than ever..
