Prequel  —  Polite Strangers

"For the Polite Strangers EP, Zero looks to the opposite side of the globe, and to Melbourne newcomer Prequel. As it turns out, the distance matters hardly at all: replete with twinkly jazz samples and delicate percussion, these four deep house productions doubtless sound right at home on the Canavan's dance floor. "

We did it again. This time with Aussie Newcomer fresh out of Melbourne: PREQUEL.

The record oozes jazz, lush orchestral experiments and downbeat, Detroit flavour house spread across 4 tracks of sun soaked productions from Melbourne Newcomer Prequel, who makes his debut on this hotly tipped Peckham Label.

Early support from Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Alex Nut, Ben UFO, Mister Saturday Night , Osunlade , midland, & Moxie ….

You Can Preorder over at the BANDCAMP right now, followed by all your favourite record stores really soon. General Release date is set for 10th November, but no doubt we’ll have a few copies to give away before that.

Polite Strangers

“You have to want to do it. You have to be into it for the right reasons. Like anything in life, in my opinion. If you’re getting into something for the wrong reason, then fuck off. Just quit now, because you can fake it till you make it but there’s a point where someone’s going to pull you up and say; ‘You’re doing this for the wrong reasons, you don’t really know what you’re talking about.'"

2014 saw the first official release of Prequel’s work on Bradley Zero’s (Boiler Room) Rhythm Section International imprint, the labels third release. The Polite Strangers EP garnered attention and praise from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Osunlade, Lefto, Ben UFO and several other well-respected industry figureheads, both abroad and at home.
Prequel’s DJ sets combine a love of Detroit House music, a keen crate diggers ear, a desire to challenge audiences and a genuine enthusiasm behind the decks. He wears his musical heart on his sleeve and strives to create a unique and memorable experience whenever and wherever he plays. 2015 has seen Prequel’s original work appearing on the Wondercore Island Mixtape #5, a contribution to a forthcoming compilation on new label Transfigured Time as well as a remix of Melbourne based outfit Tulalah on Equinox Recordings. He is also set to release a follow up EP to Polite Strangers as well as several other 12” releases.
