Jerry
Jerry (real name Amelia Sharp) is the moniker of a blossoming new DJ who’s been honing her craft as a curator and facilitator within the underground scene for many years. Now she’s turned her talents and tastes to moving crowds wherever she plays, championing dancefloor tenderness and outpourings of shared joy.
Amelia first cut her teeth as a bright eyed and bushy haired studio assistant at NTS back in its second year of existence in 2013. After a long stint producing Wednesdays, Bradley Zero offered her a job doing bandcamp fulfillment for Peckham label Rhythm Section. Nowadays, she’s settled into programming and event production as their Head of Events, leading on curation for Rhythm Section's club nights, quarterly Jazz Cafe residency and festival collaborations.
After *finally* learning to use CDJs, Amelia became an RS resident, and has gone on to play in some of London's most respected club spaces and audiophile venues alike, as well as festivals Brainchild and Gala. She's become a regular on the NTS airwaves, often stepping in to cover the 9-year-running Rhythm Section show, spinning a playful blend of RnB, boogie, reggaeton, street soul, hip hop, rare grooves, dub, club and sweatier rhythms.
At the start of 2020 she joined one of London's most respected and most loved community-lead, grassroots multi-arts organisations ~ the Brainchild Festival family. The collective have been instrumental in nurturing and platforming London’s emerging and underground scenes, and what is now an internationally renowned cohort of Jazz musicians. Jerry was able to flex her curatorial muscles once again as part of the music programming team for the festival, as well as their Colour Factory parties.
She also held a monthly Worldwide FM radio show with the Brainchild team, where they were further able to platform and celebrate local artists, DIY culture and emerging talent from their community and beyond.
Alongside her work within these musical spaces, Jerry has also been working on her own club night, animali, which had its first sold out event in Peckham in the Summer of 2022. Tunes came from herself, DJ duo Akai and Saltfish, and designer and NTS resident, Kemarr. This holistic leaning passion project has been a long time coming, shining a light on arts and crafts, music and togetherness.
Plucking from a global catalogue of dusty finger picks, Jerry likes music that makes you want to dance and hug your friends, and hopes to see you on a dancefloor soon.
